ABBOTTABAD – In yet another crucial development, the regional leadership of Pakistan Peoples Party Hazara chapter has pressed the party’s central command to wake up to the call of hundreds of thousands of people of Hazara region for the formation of Hazara province.
Talking to TheNation here on Wednesday, three key party stalwarts categorically slammed the indifferent policy of their central leadership towards Hazara cause and demanded of the party’s top brass to give due reverence to the wishes of the masses of all the five districts of Hazara, or otherwise, they cautioned, PPP in Hazara would face embarrassment and political debacle like PML-N.
Sardar Sheraz Afzal, General Secretary People Youth Organisation (PYO) Havelian, Abbottabad said that the people of Pakistan had entrusted the responsibility in PPP to serve this country for the fourth time and it was obligatory for the ruling party to consider the wishes of public and facilitate them. “On behalf of the entire leadership of PPP Hazara, I strongly stress upon my party’s top brass to wake up to our call and extend every possible support to Tehreek-e-Hazara. All the people of Hazara are united on one platform for Hazara cause under the visionary leadership of Sardar Haider Zaman, we have to rise above party politics,” he said.
“The people have elected us for the fourth time, it’s the responsibility of our leadership to duly hear the voice of people of Hazara and join Hazara cause,” he added. Sheraz cited different instances of sacrifices that PPP Hazara leaders and workers made during the ongoing struggle for Hazara province. He mentioned that Sardar Faizan Safdar, General Secretary PYO Havelian Cantonment, was shot in the leg by Peshawar police and got seriously injured during Aril 12 protests. “This public movement is marked with the sacrifices of our leaders and workers from Hazara chapter. Our central leadership gave in to the unjustified demand of ANP for the renaming of NWFP. It’s our turn now, we, the people of Hazara want a province and the ruling party has to accommodate our just demand,” he added
Ali Jawad President Peoples Student Federation (PSF) Abbottabad said that no political party could afford to detach itself from Hazara cause. “Any party that dares to disassociate itself from Tehreek-e-Hazara would become a relic of past in Hazara region like PML-N. The pitiful fate that PML-N has met in the region should be an eye-opener for our leaders,” he added. It is noteworthy that senior PPP leaders from Batgram and Kohistan including Saleem Khan, Ayaz Khan and Zarbuland Khan are actively supporting Tehreek-e-Hazara and have invited the leaders to organise a public gathering in Batgram in the next few days.
Commenting on the formation of two-member committee to be headed by Federal Minister Khurshid Shah for the solution of Hazara crises, Sardar Asad, President PYO Havelian, Abbottabad said that any such committee would play a purposeless role if it failed to take the leaders of Hazara Action Committee into confidence. “We have heard that the committee would hold talks with the ANP-led provincial regime, if so, this committee would meet a miserable fate. If anybody wants to solve Hazara crises, he better talk to the leadership of Tehreek-e-Hazara on one-point agenda, formation of Hazara province,” Asad added.
Quaid-e-Tehreek-e-Hazara, Sardar Haider Zaman said that the Federal Government had not intimated the leaders about the formation of any committee. “When they would come to us we would respond then, but our agenda is crystal clear and based on one point, Hazara province,” he added.
In addition, a jam-packed public procession was held in Pind Kargu, a suburb of Shirwan, Abbottabad. Sardar Haider Zaman, Sardar Yaqoob, Qazi Shafique, Mushtaq Ghani, Naseer Jadoon and others spoke in favour of the formation of Hazara province and vowed to continue the struggle till the fulfilment of their demands.
