Abbasi tribe voiced their support for Tehreek-e-Hazara

ABBOTTABAD – In a major development, Abbasi community has voiced open support for Tehreek-e-Hazara, dispelling the impression that the tribe was detached from the public movement.

On the eve of an overwhelming procession held in Lora on Saturday, a suburb of Tehsil Havelian, District Abbottabad, and dominated by Abbasi tribe, the local leaders including Tehsil Nazims Bilal Hameed, Jamal Abbasi and Amjad Abbasi reiterated that Abbasis would strongly stand by Tehreek-e-Hazara and Saturday’s grand procession was a clear manifestation of their support for Hazara cause.

Some supporters of PML-N leaders particularly Murtaza Abbasi had floated the rumour in the city that Tehreek-e-Hazara was led by the influential Sardar tribe in collusion with Jadoon community, another major ethnic tribe in Abbottabad against the Abbasis. However, Saturday’s overwhelmingly grand procession dispelled all such rumours.

“In a small suburb like Lora, thousands of masses turned up to identify themselves with Tehreek-e-Hazara, all those who wanted to divide us on ethnic lines have miserably failed yet again,” said Quaid-e-Tehreek-e-Hazara Sardar Haider Zaman. He slammed the role of PML-N leader Murtaza Abassi, who had visited Lora some days back to ‘brainwash’ his tribe against the Tehreek. “The malicious elements always fail and they are destined to,” he said adding that Saturday’s procession was a “shut up call” for all the “poisonous” elements.

General Secretary Peoples Youth Organisation Havelian and Central Organiser Hazara Action Committee Sardar Sheraz Afzal said that all the ethnicities of Hazara region irrespective of their creed, clan and regional diversities were standing in thorough synch for the formation of Hazara province under the united platform of Tehreek-e-Hazara. “The talks about ethnic divide are baseless, and after today’s procession all such rumours cease to exist,” he added.

President Abbottabd Traders Union and Central Leader Hazara Action Committee Sardar Shafqat in his remarks said that since the start of Tehreek-e-Hazara, the PML-N and ANP leaders were trying to sabotage the public movement by means of intrigues and other pitiful tactics.

“Those who tried to give ethnic flavour to this public movement have met a miserable political fate due to their own follies,” he said adding that the political career of PML-N was over in Hazara while ANP never had any roots in the region.
